Many clients know I have been an athlete for 22 years. But what you may not know is that going through childhood and teenage with no specific sports therapy to release tension in muscles and joints has put me through constant and painful challenges.
From meniscus damage on both knees, which prevented me from going up and down the stairs or even walking when I was 13 years old, to unbelievable pain when I worked on my ankles to make them more flexible because they were hindering my performance.
And can you believe that, after all the pain, the ankles were still very stiff and painful when I tried to work on them?
Testament: Not all athletes have these issues however
Coaches should acknowledge each student’s individuality and take appropriate action to avoid long-term injuries that might affect day-to-day life. One such approach would be sports therapy for athletes.
After receiving the benefits of other therapies, which all did their job and helped a lot, I had the opportunity to try something else: remedial massage therapy for athletes, which has a different approach and result.
How I Met Ben Pianese
I do not believe in the magic pill or that quick fix, and I am very sceptical about many things.
Well…I found something very close to that magic pill; better yet, he found me. About a year ago, Ben Pianese from Massaggi contacted me.

After my first massage session with Ben Pianese, I immediately felt better control over my knees, and my arms felt light.
My core felt more substantial, and I felt lighter on my feet. And guess what? Two days later, when I had my Karate session, my legs flew around like never before, going well over the head of the tallest guy in the class. Even my colleagues noticed the change. The control I have after 8 years of break from Karate is fantastic. Let’s not speak about confidence and balance, which are significant improvements.
After the second massage session, I felt like my body was “de-stressing” (if that’s a word; if not, I need to add a word to the Oxford Dictionary), releasing the tension.
I am also a runner and compete in obstacle races, and Ben Pianese came to me at the right moment.
This year, after an 8-year break, I will have my first Karate competition. I have already signed up for the Bucharest Marathon, and the Spartan Races are around the corner. I believe that the few massage therapy sessions I have with Ben will improve my performance.
I am looking forward to every session with Ben at his massage place. And probably the most crucial part is that after seeing Ben a few times, you don’t need to spend thousands of pounds on physiotherapists and chiropractors.
